Inspiration: Backlit bonnet mascots

Wonderful feature from a bygone age. Love the opaque Lalique look, although the example below does not possess this attribute.

SDB MKI exhaust area inspiration

Inspiration for the SDB exhaust area is this wonderful design on the Supermarine Spitfire MK VIIc.

Apparently the exhausts were narrowed to increase the planes performance.

SDB MKI grill takes shape

Harking back to the great designs of Alfa Romeo, but once the Computer Aided Design (CAD) is complete, economical to manufacture, the grill is coming together.

SDB MKI body

Taking its inspiration from racing cars spanning WW2, the SDB MKI will be a one off vehicle designed to showcase 3D Engineers talents.

Key design features are a 3D Engineers designed straight eight engine, aluminium bodywork, trailing arm front suspension, De Dion rear suspension and transaxle.

Other elements of the vehicle will show modern technology working in harmony with parts from the middle of last century from companies such as Aston Martin, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo and aircraft features from iconic designs such as the Supermarine Spitfire.

Harking back to a more glamourous age, we will also be utilizing "forgotten" design elements such as a Lalique style glass badge with soft lighting illuminating the glass from below.

We hope you enjoy the blog, which will show the design progressing to reality.
